Monday ~ October 19 ~ Monique is out of rehab!

Today was a monumental day as Monique left CPMC! I met her at CPMC and with barely any help from the PT staff, we were able to get her in in my car. She did most of it herself and it is incredible how mobile she has become. She will be staying at her dear friends' Tyler and Johnny's in Novato for a couple of weeks. She still has to be non-weight bearing on her right leg for two more weeks. Regardless, she is a master of getting around with her walker. She truly inspires us all everyday.

I know Mo is constantly posting updates on Facebook and Tweeting.

She greatly appreciates all of your continual support. Keep it coming as she makes this transition to a more normal routine especially outside the hospital/rehab. This is where she really needs us!

Friday ~ Ocotber 16

It has been awhile since I posted an update. Monique is doing amazing! Her recovery has increased two-fold. She is walking and able to do so much on her own! She has decreased her pain medication significantly and is working really hard. The best news is that she is leaving CPMC on Monday. She will be living in Novato and will need a ton of support once she is on her own.

As a lot of you know, she is online a ton and it has been great reading about her personal updates as well as viewing her pictures of her progress. It is hard to believe how much she has overcome in just a month.

Please continue all the amazing the support as I know she would not be where she is today if it were not for all of you.

Mo Update Tuesday ~ October 6

Monique is making great progress and is actually starting to walk a bit as well as do many more things on her own. She is going to have knee surgery tomorrow, which was always part of the plan but just a question as to when. The orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Kevin Louie, feels that it is important to do it sooner then later. The goal being to get her knee as functional as possible.
She will be gone from her room most of the day. The surgery is happening on site and should only take 1.5-2 hours.

I know she will do great.

An Update from Adam on Saturday ~ October 3

Hi Everyone,

Mo's rehabilitation is fully underway and she really misses everyone and welcomes short visits. Her PT and OT schedule keep her busy during the day but staff wants a warm family atmosphere at all times.

Best visiting times are before 9am, 12:30-1:30pm and after 6pm.

Please contact her at mnpetrov@gmail.com.

Thank you for your patience.

Adam

Dear Friends,

Our dear friend and fellow Ironman triathlete Monique Petrov, who was preparing to compete in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, was struck down while riding on Wednesday, September 16th. She was in the intensive care unit at Marin General, hospitalized with major injuries. Word spread quickly throughout the triathlon and cycling community - she suffered a broken arm, a fractured femur, multiple broken vertebrae, a punctured lung, a shattered kneecap and extensive scrapes, including on herface. With the Ironman event in Kona, Hawaii coming up, Monique had been training hard. Two years ago she competed at Ironman World Championships, was injured and didn't finish and was crushed. She was devastated that she didn't finish and vowed that she would get in better shape and compete again. It should be obvious that her goal, at least for the time being, is on hold. She is doing all she can to improve each day, although it will be a long road for her recovery.

With Monique's approval, the "Monique Petrov Donation Account" has been set up to provide support during her recovery. There are a few possible ways to give:

1. You can make a payment through PayPal. The address to donate to is:

donate4monique@yahoo.com

2. If you use online banking at Wells Fargo, you can make an online payment (transfer) from your own account to the "Monique Petrov Donation Account" established at:

Wells Fargo Bank
Account #: 9918242042
ABA#: 121042882

3. You can write a check to the "Monique Petrov Donation Account" and mail
it to:

Danielle Cane
28 Westwood Dr.
San Rafael, CA 94901

(make checks payable to "Monique Petrov Donation Account")

Monique is getting tons of love and support, but your financial contributions will go a long way on her road to recovery as well. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Mo is out of the hospital!!!!

Hi,

Just a quick update that Monique was transferred yesterday to a rehab facility at CPMC. She is at the Davies Campus in the city.

CPMC Davies Campus
Davies North Tower
Castro & Duboce Streets
San Francisco, CA 94114
415-600-0200

This is great news as it was not supposed to happen to later this week. She will have PT every morning for a few hours and in the afternoon...long, hard days! I am not sure about visitors, but she is reachable by cell. Flowers, cards, etc. can be sent I believe to the above address. Might want to call first to make sure they get to the right place!

Thank you again for all your undying strength and support ~ keep it coming! I know she appreciates all so much. She truly is amazing.

Sandy
